There was a small forest in the neighborhood where I used to live. One day, I happened to meet an adorable squirrel in that urban forest. Squirrels are animals that everyone, young and old, seems to love. There were definitely oak trees around. I picked up an acorn from the ground, but when I got home, I started to feel quilty. Acorns are a special gift from nature, especially for squirrels. It took quite a long time before I met the squirrel in that forest again.

예전에 제가 살았던 동네에 작은 숲이 있었습니다. 저는 그 도심의 숲에서 우연히 사랑스러운 다람쥐를 만났습니다. 다람쥐는 남녀노소 불문하고 누구나 좋아하는 동물입니다. 그 근처에는 확실히 도토리 나무도 있었어요. 제가 바닥에 떨어져있는 도토리를 하나를 주워왔는데, 집에 와서 보니 그제서야 다람쥐에게 미안한 마음이 들었습니다. 도토리는 다람쥐가 좋아하는 자연의 선물이니깐요. 저는 그 숲에서 다람쥐를 다시 만나기까지 꽤 오랜 시간이 걸렸습니다.

Meeting the squirrel by chance was a stroke of luck for me. Living in the city, we don’t often get the time to appreciate nature, life, and the environment. Burt through drawing, I’m able to hold onto those quiet, meaningful moments just a bit longer. I’m always thankful for that.

어쩌다 다람쥐를 만나게 된 것은 저에게 행운이었어요. 우리가 도심에 살면 자연과 생명, 환경의 소중함을 느낄 수 있는 시간은 그리 많지 않은 것 같습니다. 그림을 그리다 보면 그 소중한 시간을 조금 더 가지게 됩니다. 그래서 늘 갑사합니다.

The Funny Squirrel 6th Birthday Card was born from a little inspiration in the city’s forest. I invited the squirrel I met there into my artwork. A squirrel hugging the number 6, plump and shiny acorns, a “Happy Birthday” title, a birthday cake with six glowing candles on a cut tree stump, and flowers blooming on the ground, all these elements represent birthday blessings and hope, creating an overall warm and lovely atmosphere.

Funny Squirrel 6th Birthday Card는 그렇게 만들어졌습니다. 저는 도심의 숲에서 만났던 그 다람쥐를 제 그림에 데려왔어요. 숫자 6을 품에 안고 있는 다람쥐, 통통하고 반짝이는 도토리와 Happy Birthday 타이틀, 잘려진 나무 위에 6개의 초가 빛나는 생일 케익, 땅 위에 피어난 꽃들. 이 모든 것들이 생일의 축복과 희망을 나타내어 전체적으로 따뜻하고 사랑스러운 분위기를 자아냅니다.

특히 다람쥐의 털의 질감을 표현하기 위해서 더욱 섬세하게 색연필 터치에 신경을 썼습니다. 시간이 오래 걸렸지만 완성된 그림이 꽤 만족스러워요. 이제 생일 축하 준비는 모두 끝났습니다.

Handmade birthday cards are drawn and colored by me with colored pencils. I used Tombow colored pencils that I bought more than 30 years ago, and the paper is the papaer is a CERGIO colored pencils sketchbook from Shinhan Commerce. It’s a little thicker than the ARTISTS 100 CROQUIS SKETCH BOOK I used before.

핸드 메이드 생일 카드는 제가 직접 색연필로 그리고 색칠합니다. 구입한지 30년이 훨씬 지난 Tombow 색연필을 사용했고 종이는 신한커머스의 CERGIO 색연필 전용 스케치북입니다. 이전에 사용했던 ARTISTS 100 CROQUIS SKETCH BOOK 보다 조금 더 두꺼워요.

3. Outline the design with a pencil as a base. / 연필로 밑그림을 그립니다.
4. Choose and arrange the colors for the design elements. / 디자인 요소의 컬러를 구성합니다.
5. Finish the coloring with colored pencils to complete the analog card. / 색연필로 색칠을 완료합니다(아날로그 카드 완성).
6. Scan and conbert it into a digital file. / 스캔 후 디지털 파일화 작업을 진행합니다.
